Caring For Your Swoolly
General Care Instructions
Your SWOOLLY is easy care. Just follow these simple tips:
- Hand wash or machine wash your SWOOLLY on a gentle cycle. Use a mild detergent. Don't use water hotter than 40°C. Don’t use fabric softener or bleach.
- Merino wool dries quickly, perfect for busy people. Drip dry flat in shade as bright sunlight tends to fade the vibrancy of the colours.
- To prolong your SWOOLLY's 'as new' look and feel, turn inside out prior to washing.
- REMEMBER - wool doesn't absorb body odour like cotton and synthetics. There is no need to wash every time you wear your SWOOLLY.
Stains
Merino wool fibres have a natural protective layer that helps prevent stains from being absorbed. If you do happen to put a mark on your SWOOLLY the following provides some guidance.
Blood: Remove excess blood immediately with a damp sponge, then gently dab the area using undiluted white vinegar followed by cold water.
Butter / Sauces: If a greasy mark forms, firstly scrape the surface of the stain with a spoon or knife to remove any excess oil. Then soak a lint free cloth in proprietary grease remover or white spirit + gently dab the area.
Chocolate: Dab gently around the edge of the stain with a cloth soaked in white spirit. Then mix alcohol + white vinegar in equal parts, soak a lint free cloth in the solution + lightly dab the stained area before pressing gently with an absorbent cloth.
Egg or milk: Dab gently with a lint free cloth soaked in white spirit. Repeat the action with a cloth soaked in diluted white vinegar.
Fruit / Fruit Juice: Dab the stain with a mixture of surgical spirit or rubbing alcohol and water (3:1 ratio).
Grass: Apply soap very carefully (using a mild tablet soap or flakes) or dab gently with a lint free cloth soaked in surgical spirit or rubbing alcohol.
Ink: Dab gently with a lint free cloth soaked in white spirit. Repeat the action with a cloth soaked in diluted white vinegar or or rubbing alcohol.
Lipstick / make-up / shoe polish: Rub gently with a lint free cloth soaked in turpentine or spot cleaning spray or fluid. Rinse with mild soapy water
REMEMBER - When treating stains, it is important to ensure they are fully removed before ironing. The heat from ironing can make a stain permanent.
